4 Ways to Get Your Home Ready for Spring
You might have felt like hibernating in your Galveston, Texas, home this winter, but now spring is just around the corner. There are several maintenance items you’ll want to do to get your home ready for a Galveston spring now that winter is on its way out.
Schedule HVAC Maintenance
You know your heater worked fine all winter, and you want to make sure the air conditioner works when the weather starts to heat up. With a tune-up and maintenance, we’ll check every part of your HVAC system, including the thermostat, filters, blower, drain, wiring, condenser, compressor, refrigerant, and more.
Bring Spring Cleaning Outside
Cleaning the inside of your home might become an automatic chore that you perform daily, but don’t forget to go outside. As spring approaches, pressure-wash your walkways and look for cracks to repair. Clean your front door and windows, as well, and maybe even freshen them up with a new coat of paint. Clean and rake your front yard, then prepare your flower beds for spring planting.
Check the Roof and Gutters
Now that the worst of winter is over, and before spring rains arrive, check your roof and gutters for problems. You need to look over your roof for any damage or loose and missing shingles as well as remove leaves and dead branches. Clean out your gutters while you’re up there, and look over your chimney for any damage to the exterior.
Don’t Forget Your Attic
Your home’s attic is an easy space to neglect if you only use it for storage. Attics can breed bugs, rodents, mold, and mildew. Check your attack for proper ventilation and consider adding more insulation if it looks too thin. You can hire a professional or do it yourself if you have experience.
Getting your home ready for spring helps you shake off the winter blues and prepare for warmer weather. After you finish with the house, you can head down to the beach as a reward. When you need HVAC service with Davis Air Conditioning and Heating, give us a call at 888-710-5530.
