But did you know that there’s a new, improved label out there to help you find the perfect heating equipment for your Northern Illinois home?

Old standards needed a kick in the pants
The original standards that allow a piece of equipment to be adorned with the Energy Star label are still great in their own right. The problem is that these standards are no longer difficult to achieve due to better energy efficiency in recent years. Plus, manufacturers have always been in control of deciding which units they’ve constructed will have the label. Because of these concerns, Energy Star decided to create the Most Efficient program.

Most Efficient: The name says it all
If you want to be sure that your new air conditioning or heating equipment is at the peak of energy efficiency, keep an eye out for the Most Efficient label. These units represent the highest of standards. Plus, now that Energy Star and not each individual manufacturer will be approving the use of the label, there will be better consistency and control.

Purchase new air conditioning and heating equipment with confidence
To be awarded this new Energy Star label, each piece of equipment must be proven highly energy efficient. For example, if you are in the market for a new furnace, each unit with the Most Efficient label must have an AFUE of 97 percent or higher.
