Houston, TX Air Conditioning Repair & Service

They say that everything’s bigger in Texas, and Houston is certainly a prime example. This thriving city ranks fourth in the nation in terms of population, and it has enjoyed several major population booms through the years. For a while, its excessively hot and humid climate kept people at bay, but air conditioning changed all of that. These days, the Space City is bursting with opportunities, and there’s never a dull moment.

History

Two men from New York, Augustus Chapman Allen and John Kirby Allen, purchased more than 6,600 acres in the area where Houston now sits in 1836 and decided to name the city they founded in honor of General Sam Houston. Houston was officially incorporated the following year, and it didn’t take long for it to become a center of commerce. By the 1860s, for example, it was considered to be one of the most important hub cities in the cotton industry. By the 1890s, it had become the railroad hub of Texas.

Houston’s history changed forever in 1901, when oil was discovered at the Spindletop oil field. Shortly thereafter, plans to turn Houston into a deep-water port city were put into motion, and the work was completed in 1914. When air conditioning became widespread during the 1950s, Houston experienced yet another major population boom. Since then, it has also become the home of the Johnson Space Center and the Texas Medical Center.

Geography

Houston is located in Harris County, Texas. The city sprawls across more than 656 square miles. 634 of those miles are comprised of land, and 22.3 of them are made up of water. Indeed, four major bayous pass through the city, and they’ve played pivotal roles in its development through the years.

Population and Demographics

At the time of the 2010 U.S. Census, Houston boasted a population of more than 2.1 million people. Houston ranks ninth in terms of median housing value, making it one of the most affordable cities for home ownership. There are eleven universities and colleges, twelve health institutions located in and around the Texas Medical Center and 3 law schools.

Attractions and Things to Do

You’ll never get bored in Houston. There are dozens of exceptional museums, with the Houston Museum of Natural Science being just one example. For outdoor fun, you can’t go wrong with Discovery Green Park, which is an oasis of calm in the heart of this bustling city. The Downtown Tunnel System, which is a subterranean network that connects several important buildings in central Houston, is fun to wander around. There are numerous restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy. No visit to Houston would be complete without spending at least part of a day at Space Center Houston.

Houston is the site of several popular events throughout the year. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo draws massive crowds and is a whole lot of fun. For something a little different, try attending the Art Car Parade, in which participants customize their vehicles to resemble everything from chickens to cupcakes.

Climate and Weather

Two words best describe summers in Houston: hot and humid. Temperatures exceed 90 degrees on an average of 99 days per year, and humidity levels make it feel even hotter. Winters are mild, with the high in January averaging 63 degrees.

Exceptional Service

Same day service, courtesy call 30 minutes before and on time arrival. Scott was polite and friendly. He did a thorough inspection of all the equipment and vents for potential problems. He found the issue and had the parts ready for the repair. My a/c is running great! Exceptional job.

Superb service

Scott was awesome. Our unit was leaking (or producing?) water… which it ISN'T supposed to do. Scott diagnosed the problem as faulty dampers, which he replaced.

His congenial manner, combined with his superb expertise made our repair session an extremely pleasurable experience. Thanks to Davis for providing fantastic techs, who clearly understand superior customer service.
