Why Is My Furnace Leaking Water in Houston, TX?
A leaking furnace can have numerous causes, and it is always important to call a professional right away. Your HVAC system has several parts that connect to other sections of your heating system that come in contact with water. Learn more about what can cause a furnace to leak in Houston, TX and how to spot leaks below.
Condensation in the Vents
Condensation can build up in the vents your furnace pumps hot air through, and it may not all evaporate with warm air. If enough condensation builds up, it will collect and drip down onto the furnace. You will likely see water on the floor, which can be confusing in some cases.
Vent Pipe Problems
The vent pipe can have similar condensation problems and attaches to an outdoor wall. The pipe may develop condensation if there is a problem with the sealing or the pipe becomes clogged. Check for leaves, animal debris, moss and other buildup in the vent pipe on a regular basis.
A Blocked Drain Line
The drain line from your furnace runs to the outside of your home. Clogs create water buildup inside and around the furnace.
A Dirty or Clogged Air Filter
Dirty or clogged air filters make your system work harder to heat and cool the house, and they also create extra condensation. Consult with a technician about how often you should change your filter. It is also recommended that maintenance be performed at least annually to keep your furnace in safe and efficient condition.
Don’t put extra strain on your furnace and use excess energy by ignoring leaks or condensation of any kind. Contact our team at Davis Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. for expert repairs and friendly service.
